Harpswell, Me

This weekend we took a drive just north of Portland to check out a few of the pennisulas there. Harpswell is a pennisula 9 miles long with islands on each side. We did our sight seeing on Harpswell Neck, Great, Orrs and Bailey Islands. Harriet Beecher Stowe spent her summers on Orrs Island and it was the inspiration for her story "Pearl of Orrs Island". Some other smaller islands provided inspiration for author Elijah Kellog an poet Whittier.

Alot of the roads ended at Points(beaches) but they are private proprty so we spent time driving down those roads and couldn't access the beaches. It was so frustrating. But we did get some pics of the area.
